Norman Douglas Evans, age 81, of DeKalb, TX, left this world on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven. Doug was born November 11, 1943 in Mabelvale, AR to Robert and Anna Evans. He is preceded in death by his parents, son Kevin Evans, granddaughter Makenzie Flores, brother-in-law David Berry, Sr. and brother Dan Evans.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nancy Kay Evans, daughter Kathryn (Tony) Flores, grandchildren Shelby and Michael Evans, sister-in-law Peggy (Jay) White, host of nieces and nephews and a special cousin Lynn Short.
After graduating from Mabelvale High School, Doug joined the Arkansas Army National Guard to serve his country. After serving, he became a welder and went to work for Dixie Equipment Company.
From there, he went to Dassault Falcon Jet where he started as a structure mechanic. He then became the first quality burn chamber inspector. Years later he became an “A” Inspector.
Retiring in 2009 he finished his career of 34 years as a Supervisor of Quality Control where he was well respected for his professionalism and integrity in building “The best corporate jet in the world.”
Doug was a member of Wards Creek Baptist Church, Simms, Texas. He was ordained a deacon in 1979. His passion was fishing, hunting, the Arkansas Razorbacks and most importantly his family.
